A SCHEME to replace traffic lights in the Knutsford area is back on track after falling behind schedule - but has resulted in queues of traffic in the town.
Cheshire East Council’s Highways team has been replacing lights in the area with LED lights, which are cheaper to operate.
But Guardian readers, including Sheila O’Grady, noticed that workmen were not running the programme to time.
A council spokesman said: “It is always regrettable when improvements such as this fall behind schedule.
“However, we are now back on track with around 75 per cent of all upgrades in the Knutsford area due to be completed by the end of the week, with the remainder being carried out in due course.
“In the meantime, we would like to thank residents for their continued cooperation.”
Workmen appeared at Adams Hill on Tuesday morning to replace the lights, which has resulted in queues forming on Toft Road and the rest of the town after temporary lights were installed while the fixed ones were out of order.
