TESCO has told the Guardian it has pulled the plug on a deal to open one of its Express convenience stores in Holmes Chapel.
In September, the supermarket giant announced that it was opening a store in the unit currently occupied by MG Williams and Sons.
But when the Guardian contacted Stephen Williams, the owner of the shop, he said talks had taken place but nothing had been signed.
Now just two months later Tesco told the Guardian this week it was no longer planning on opening a store in the village, and did not want to comment further.
In August, Sainsbury’s revealed that it had struck a deal to open a shop in part of the Morreys store in the village.
