A GOLF course on the outskirts of Knutsford is set to submit plans which it believes will make it one of the north west’s premier venues.

High Legh Park, on Warrington Road, has unveiled ambitious plans to make the club a magnet for golfing talent across the region.

The plans, which are still subject to approval by Cheshire East Council, will see a golfing academy being built at the club, due for completion next year.

Not only will the development include a new driving range, but the academy will be home to a range of specialist golfing services and coaches.

The specialists will include Kevin Duffy, a well renowned golf fitness professional; Tour X, which offers customised golf club fitting; Lee Cromblehome, one of the European Tour’s leading mind coaches; Mike Donald, who will be responsible for coaching development, and Natalie Adam, the junior and ladies coaching development specialist.

Andrew Vaughan, owner of High Legh Park, said: “The profile of golf in the UK is increasing all the time, and we wanted to ensure that we are offering the very best in terms of development of new talent into the game as well as giving existing players access to these amazing services.

“The new academy will be accessible to all golfers, both members and non-members, and will offer an unrivalled service to help them improve their game.”

The academy is only part of the long-term vision for the club, that will also see the re-design of the existing 18-hole golf course, the introduction of a new nine-hole short course, and a small training course for learners and junior players.

Anyone wishing to find out more about the academy or the plans for the course at High Legh Park is being invited to a free open day on Saturday from 10am until 4pm.

The plans have yet to be submitted to Cheshire East Council, and as a result there is no planning application number for the development.
