PUPILS at Peover Superior Primary School had a surprise when they returned from half-term break to find a new £10,000 all-weather playground.
Pentagon Sport undertook the work over the break, which included installing a new sandpit, climbing frames, and artificial turf.
Mike McLaughlin, headteacher, said: “This work has been long overdue and the response from the children has been fantastic.”
The project was funded in less than a year with support of the Friends of the School Association and various fundraising events.
Significant donations were also made by the Cheshire Game and Angling Fair, Knutsford Waitrose through their ‘Community Matters’ scheme and Barclays at Radbroke Hall.
“The school is extremely grateful for this support from its local community,” added Mr McLaughlin.
The play area was officially opened by ex-pupil Eddie Cartwright on Saturday prior to the inaugural ‘Christmas Hall of Stalls’ event.
