GIRL Guide Cara Armstrong has been selected to take part in a trip to Ghana after a rigorous selection process.

She will stay at the girl guide headquarters in Accra, capital of Ghana, for two weeks where she will be involved with projects run by local charities.

This rare opportunity enables the 10 girls selected to participate in projects run by numerous charities in the area including Water Aid and to meet girlguiding groups from the area.

Cara, 15, who lives in Ashworth Park, has been chosen to join the group after attending a county selection camp where 30 girls were chosen for a regional selection camp, during which the girls had to take part in team activities and interviews.

Knutsford Academy pupil Cara said “I am excited, I know a few people who are going and I know I was lucky to get selected.”

In order go on the trip Cara must raise £1,200.

She has been fundraising and working hard to raise all the money.

Her friends at the 6th Knutsford Rainbows and her guide leader Libby Mooney have also been rallying behind.

Some of the fundraising schemes include selling Christmas puddings and bag packing in supermarkets.
