FROM cleaning carpets to coping with a bomb attack, the leap has been easy for Warrington author Conrad Jones.

Just over a year ago, the 43-year-old from Orford Green was a self-employed carpet cleaner but when he had his equipment stolen while on holiday in America, he made the life-changing decision to follow his dream and write a book.

Conrad experienced terrorism first-hand when he was working as the manager of McDonalds on Bridge Street on the day of the IRA bombing in 1993. He spoke to Limited Edition in the May issue about why this inspired him to start writing.

Now, this month, the third instalment of his Soft Target trilogy about a fictional terrorist taskforce goes on sale and he has even started work on a fourth book, which is likely to become the first part of a new trilogy.

He is now due to embark on a book signing tour across the UK and America, culminating with an appearance on a chat show in Texas.

Conrad, who was nominated for the literary American Silver Awards, said: “I’m doing something which completely envelops me, I sit in a bubble and write for hours.

“The buzz is when people tell me how much they have enjoyed the stories, especially complete strangers. The more they enjoy it the more I want to write the series.”
