From the circus to a spa, it’s all in a month for a DJ

WHAT a great month May is. Two bank holidays, spring in full swing, the start of the holiday season and normally okay weather - here's hoping.

I have had a busy few weeks lately. Easter time I grabbed a last minute bargain to Las Vegas with some friends, I have been before but the place is just one big playground for big kids.

It is fabulous, great hotels, out-of-this-world, all-you-can-eat buffets and, of course, incredible shows and not forgetting the shops are brilliant too.

I checked out the new Grammy-winning, Beatle's inspired, Cirque Du Soleil show called Love, currently residing at The Mirage Hotel on the famous Las Vegas strip.

The show was a collaboration between the world famous Cirque Du Soleil team and the late George Harrison, all put together musically by none other than Sir George Martin of Beatles fame.

It was a truly incredible show and well worth a look if you are going to just choose one show to see in Vegas.

With holidays still in mind I am about to go on my annual mini-cruise, five days around Italy, France and Spain.

If you have never been cruising before they are a great way of having a taste of the cruising holidays that are now so popular.

In fact the majority of people who go cruising book again. I tried it about five years ago with a mini cruise around the Caribbean and got hooked on it.

That reminds me I must shop for outfits for the cruise. I love Marks & Spencer's Limited Collection this season and I treated myself to the gorgeous Aubergine leather bomber jacket as seen in the Lily Cole Vogue collection.

I have also just booked in for a bit of a spa day at The Launch Pad in Grappenhall. Leesa the owner has been in the beauty and holistic industry for more than 11 years so I am getting ready for my hols with waxing (ouch!), pedicure and the awakening package' which involves a full body seaweed salt scrub plus a 45-minute back and scalp massage, bliss.

Over the past few weeks at Century Radio we once again have had a few celebrities popping in for a chat including the ultra talented French and Saunders ahead of their UK tour.

Dawn told us a tale or two, including how she managed to kiss Brad Pitt in the middle of the famous Ivy restaurant in London. So that is George Clooney, Hugh Grant, Johnny Depp and now Brad Pitt.

Oh and married to the incredible Lenny Henry, that girl really does have it all.

However, Dawn said that Jamie Theakston was the best kisser out of the lot with the exception of Lenny of course.

I also managed to catch up with 70s and 80s icon Gary Numan ahead of his north west tour and his 50th birthday.

Fancy spending your big 50th birthday on stage. But that is what he loves doing and playing all the old stuff again was certainly a great blast from the new wave era.

Speaking of blasts from the past, Bob Carolgees and the famous Spit the dog popped in to Century Radio a few weeks back to show his support for our Bring A Pound To Work Day where nearly 1,000 workplaces across the north west helped raise thousands for CLIC Sargent, the children's cancer charity. So thank you if you brought a pound to work and gave your support.

Last month was especially busy for me but it really was an amazing time when I co-hosted the ninth Fina World Swimming Championships which was held in Manchester.

For the first time in an indoor arena, they actually built two swimming pools inside the Manchester Arena.

With more than 800 swimmers from 130 countries and more than 8,000 spectators at each heat it was an incredible event, with big thanks to my co-host Olympic bronze medallist Stephen Parry.

That is all for now but look out for Century Radio's presenters on the Ice Panel at this year's Dancing On Ice arena tours in the north west this month.
