A year with lots of promise

HAVING just turned 43 a week ago I shouldn't really be in a good mood but.. good news, it is almost spring and Easter eggs are in the shops.

Well actually they've been there since Boxing Day but this time of year is just great do you not think?

"It's been full of divas on Century Radio recently, from Kylie hosting her own show to Girls Aloud, Sugababes and Bananarama, pop's best divas have visited."

You can buy daffodils, Valentine's Day gave us an excuse to eat more chocolate and the High Street is full of gorgeous clothes it is still too cold to wear but they look fabulous.

Talking of which the hot items for 2008 are prints with either butterflies or stars on, believe me stars are huge this year and you do not have to earn a celebrity wage packet to dress like one.

Stores like New Look, Next and Top Shop have all gone with the big print look for 2008.

And yes those white, skinny jeans you bought last year are still in but bin the leggings.

Talking of the High Street, I was so pleased to see one of my favourite stores, Zara, open in Warrington's recently refurbished Golden Square.

Saves a trip to the Trafford Centre, plus a new boutique from the girls who brought us Ibizaar in Stockton Heath will open next month in Warrington.

It's called Pretty Flamingo (like the Manfred Mann song) and it's bohemian and unique - perfect for us girls' over 30ish.

Look out for opening offers and celebrities cutting the ribbon on the official opening day.

If you're into the 80s, the big concert of the year has to be the Here and Now Tour coming to the north west including the new Liverpool Arena in May and this year it includes local lad Rick Astley.

Can't wait after chatting to Rick recently, rest assured he still has those moves to the classic Never Gonna Give You Up.

Talking of 80s music, have you checked out the new soap Echo Beach starring Jason Donovan with that fabulous 80s song Echo Beach as the theme tune?

He still has it doesn't he?

On the television over the past few weeks we've seen the return of Dancing on Ice with a new batch of stars ready to wear those American tan tights and fall flat on their faces.

Last year on their UK tour I was lucky enough to be a guest judge on the Ice Panel when the tour came to Manchester Arena.

Can you imagine little old me sat next to Robin Cousins, nasty Jason and chatting like old mates to Torvill and Dean.

It was fabulous, sequins everywhere and me giving everyone a 6' because I was just amazed how anyone could actually stay upright on the ice.

My favourite on the tour was Bonnie Langford who was so bendy and a lovely person to chat to. By the way Jayne Torvill is tiny and Judge Jason is really nasty.

The tour comes to the north west again this May, it's really worth going to. Who knows I may get asked to be a guest judge on the Ice Panel again.

The thing I am most looking forward to at the moment is the chance to host this year's World Swimming Championships.

For the first time ever, they're being held in an indoor arena - none other than our own Manchester Arena.

This April, the five-day event will see more than 600 athletes competing from all around the world. Book now and I look forward to seeing you there.
