Personal Overview - Held this safe Labour seat in 2010 following the retirement of Ian McCartney. She has worked in the voluntary sector for over 20 years and was the first member of her family to go to University. She has a trade union background, having represented Council workers for NALGO and NUPE whilst a Manchester Housing Officer on the Moss Side estate. She has also been a supporter of Credit Unions (Cooperative Financial Institutions which promote saving and provide credit at reasonable rates to their members) to assist vulnerable consumers in dealing with Credit issues. Her political interests also include the voluntary sector and health and is likely to show concern over issues of perceived injustice in society.

In terms of European politics, he has gained experience through his work for John Whittaker MEP, he has also acted as a political consultant to Godfrey Bloom MEP and has been Editor of the Bulletin from Brussels Magazine.
