Gallo Family Vineyards Summer Red, £6.99, most retailers
The California-based Gallo organisation, founded in 1933, is one of the world’s largest wine producers and that means an awful lot of people love what they make.
This reviewer finds their wares too sweet but drink it chilled and there’s no denying this cherry and raspberry red is extremely refreshing.
Gallo Family Vineyards Summer White, £6.99, most retailers
Now we are officially heading for summer the white partner for the above will also please a lot of palates. Apples, pears and citrus flavours dominate.
Like the red it is sweet but also light in a very socially responsible sense because the alcohol level is just 5.5 per cent – the same as many middleweight beers.
