That’s a wrap! Well, almost…

Director Taika Waititi celebrated the last day of filming of the third Thor movie, Ragnarok, by sharing a Facebook Live video of the set – with special appearances from stars Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson.

He took viewers on a spontaneous tour of the set in Australia’s Gold Coast, giving special attention to props such as a “mountain of space waste”, an “empty space ship”, a fake gun that looked like a crutch and a “polystyrene brick”.

The video was filmed before the team’s final few hours on the set, after 84 days of shooting.

Pointing the camera at cast members wearing their heavy costumes in the “blazing Australian heat”, Taika said: “They are the real heroes, not people like Chris Hemsworth… Oh, there he is.”

Wearing a loose white top and with his mop of blonde hair in Thor’s signature plait, viewer comments went crazy as Chris joined Taika on the screen.

But, while being a pro with a script, Chris struggled to think of much to say on the spot, and after greeting fans with a polite “Hi, how is everybody?” started playing with a polystyrene brick.

He joked: “I think we are all going to get fired after this,” and added that the video would soon be available to rent on VHS – for $50 a night.

Introducing viewers to members of the crew, Taika said: “There’s people everywhere, I wonder what everyone does.

“I’m just panning around, trying not to show any secrets. I’m not sure what I’m allowed to show or not. Meet Chris’ stunt double…”

Rounding up the 15-minute video, he pulled Chris and Tessa – in her costume face paint – into view and said: “We should probably go back to work and finish making this movie, or else no-one will get to see it. It’s nearly a wrap.

“I love all these people here and I have had an amazing time with them.

“Thanks for tuning in to this weird thing that we just did.”

No, thank YOU, Taika.
