It’s been two months since The Libertines announced they were starting work on a new album, and the band have promised it will soon be ready.

The band posted a picture of Carl Barat and Pete Doherty together on Facebook, with the caption: “Peter and Carl are back in Thailand to continue the writing for the new album. Expect album announcement soon.”

Carl announced in January he was travelling to Thailand to begin work on the new music for their first album in 11 years.

Pete has been living there since checking out of the Hope Rehabilitation Centre in Chon Buri after his latest stint of rehab to deal with his drug addiction.

The Libertines – whose other members are John Hassall and Gary Powell – split in 2004, but have reformed sporadically for a number of gigs, including a headline show at London’s Hyde Park and three nights at Alexandra Palace.

Pete’s bandmates joined him in Thailand in December 2015 to sign their new record deal with Virgin/EMI. They are headlining a string of festivals together over the summer.

The Libertines released just two hit albums during their career before disintegrating as a result of Pete’s drug use.
