A UK version of the hit American TV show Lip Sync Battle, is coming to Channel 5.

The show, which will be eight episodes of 30 minutes each, has taken America by storm.

It’s expected to premiere in the UK in early 2016, but no presenter has yet been announced.

In the United States the show is fronted by two-time Grammy award winner LL Cool J.

It has featured a long list of impressive celebrities, including Anne Hathaway, Anna Kendrick and Stephen Merchant, who all compete against each other as they lip-sync their song of choice.

The American version of the show averages around three million viewers, and Channel 5 is hoping to replicate its success on UK screens.

Director of programmes Ben Frow said: “There is a great buzz around Lip Sync Battle – it’s one of the most talked-about and fought-over formats in the world of TV right now.

“We’re excited that our developing relationship with Spike in the US has made a UK version of the show possible and look forward to bringing entertainment back to the heart of Channel 5 prime time.”

On the American show, a recent episode that saw Anne Hathaway going up against Emily Blunt received rave reviews.
