The world of golf, it’s fair to say, does not think Lewis Hamilton should have won Sports Personality Of The Year.

Rory McIlroy’s fellow golfing pros rallied round one of their own in no uncertain terms, with Ryder Cup team-mate Ian Poulter at the head of the field.
