A WARRINGTON-BORN actor dubbed the UK’s ‘Scream King’ is to share his terrifying tales from a career in horror films.

Nathan Head, a former Bridgewater High School student, is one of the special guests at Chester Comic Con.

The celebration of pop culture will be at Chester Racecourse on Sunday.

Nathan Head, who grew up in Grappenhall, has appeared in numerous horror films as well as television shows like Doctor Who.

The 37-year-old was in the 2007 Doctor Who Christmas special, with David Tennant and Kylie Minogue, as a snooty guest aboard the ‘Starship Titanic’ who the tenth Doctor sprayed with champagne.

Nathan, who also produces films, specialises in horrors and has appeared in Jurassic Predator, Ouijageist, Hellriser and Theatre of Fear.

Recently he appeared in the Welsh horror anthology film Blaze of Gory and has a recurring role in the popular Robert the Doll franchise.

One of his latest roles is in Ip Man 4, the latest in a popular series of films based on a Cantonese martial artist whose most famous student was Bruce Lee.

It stars Donnie Yen of Star Wars: Rogue One fame and in the latest chapter of the franchise Liverpool stands in for San Francisco.

Former St Wilfrid’s CE Primary School pupil Nathan, who has been a guest at MCM Birmingham as well as conventions in Blackpool and Llangollen, said: “I’m pretty excited about attending Chester Comic Con, it’s just the sort of event that Chester needs.

“I’ve heard from a number of fans of Doctor Who that are based in Cheshire and are making a day of it at the Racecourse, so I’m looking forward to seeing some amazing cosplay there.

“I’ve worked in Chester on a few projects too, a few years ago I shot scenes for a photo-comic there, which was like a regular comic book but done with actors and practical lighting effects.

“We also shot some of the scenes for the horror film Blood Curse and its sequel there, so it’s going to be amazing to attend a convention in Chester.”

The event takes place this Sunday at Chester Racecourse. Almost 4,000 people attended the convention last year.

Organisers Mark Jones and Stuart Stevenson added: “We are lucky to have Chester Racecourse as our venue, because of its size we have been expanding year on year and will continue to do so.”

More celebrity guests from film and television will be in attendance, including the fifth Doctor Who Peter Davison plus actor Terry Molloy who portrayed his arch nemesis and creator of the Daleks, Davros.

From Star Wars there is the dark lord himself, Darth Vader.

Spencer Wilding portrayed film’s number one villain in Star Wars: Rogue One. Spencer has also appeared in Doctor Who, Green Lantern, The Wolfman and Ghost Rider.

There will also be some prop replicas from Back to the Future, Star Wars, Transformers and more.
