YOUNG budding thespians in Warrington will be able to enjoy a variety of free creative workshops during the summer holidays, thanks to funding from the Big Lottery Fund.

Express Arts, which provides arts and stage opportunities for people in the town, has been awarded more than £6,000 to host the Day of Discoveries.

In partnership with LiveWire, the Day of Discoveries summer programme will take place in all 12 of Warrington’s libraries, offering drama, crafts, photography, filmmaking and even stop-motion animation sessions to youngsters aged between six and 14.

Hollie Wimpenny, co-artistic director said: “We are delighted to be awarded this grant by the Big Lottery Fund, encouraging more young people to engage with the arts. The workshops aim to support their development, such as teamwork, communication and leadership skills. The funding also means that everything is free, which is great as the summer holidays can be an expensive time for families.”

The workshops will also provide young people with an opportunity to gain an Arts Award qualification and get a certificate.

Arts Award is managed by Trinity College London in association with Arts Council England and builds confidence, helps young people to enjoy cultural activities, and prepares them for further education or employment.

There are limited places on the workshops and booking is essential. Visit dayofdiscoveries.co.uk or email info@expressarts.co.uk.
