CLASSROOMS at Priestley have been transformed into an art exhibition.

The eclectic range of work includes everything from a computer game set in a fantasy world to fine art and high fashion. Head of art and design Alistair Thompson said the diversity and standard from both A-Level and BTEC students was some of the best the college had seen.

He said: “Many of our students have received offers from some of the best art colleges in the country and it is not difficult to see why when you take a look at their final projects.”

Work produced by students taking a diverse range of subjects including graphic design, textiles and photography, is on display.

Among them was Charlotte Leigh’s textiles piece which was inspired by The Borrowers.

Her goal was to create two complete theatre costumes including both garments and accessories.

“I started by doing extensive research into various costume artists and other stories that related to tiny people living in a giant’s world,” said the former Lymm High School pupil.

“For my primary research I visited theatre costume exhibits at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. I also took photographs of two dolls dressed to look the part and positioned around my home and garden so I could experiment with scale.”
