MUSIC legend Sir Tom Jones has paid tribute to the ’uplifting’ support of his fans as he prepares to return to Tatton Park this summer.

Sir Tom confirmed this week that he will soon return to the stage for the first time since the death of his wife Linda.

Promoters Cuffe and Taylor are looking forward to bringing Sir Tom Jones to Tatton Park on Thursday, July 28 as part of the three-day Concerts By The Lake festival which also includes performances by Wet Wet Wet and Hallé orchestra.

Sir Tom’s wife Linda passed away last month in Los Angles after a brave battle with cancer. The pair were married for 59 years after meeting when they were growing up together in Treforest, Pontypridd.

In a Facebook post to fans Sir Tom said: "Seeing some unexpected press (coverage) over the weekend, I came to the conclusion that singing really is my best therapy.

"Music is so important to me - it’s my life, and through the brightest and darkest of times it has embedded a soundtrack to all my memories.

"So, it means a huge amount to be able to continue to perform for such a loyal and giving audience - your support has been uplifting and doesn’t go unnoticed. See you all at the shows this Summer.”

Cuffe and Taylor have worked with Sir Tom at a number of previous events including Lytham Festival 2014, Greenwich Music Time, Stoke’s Betley Concerts and Scarborough Open Air Theatre all in 2015. Cuffe and Taylor artist AJ Brown also supported Sir Tom across his UK tour last year.

Director Peter Taylor said: “We have been incredibly privileged to work with Sir Tom Jones extensively over the last couple of years and we were all deeply saddened to hear the news of Lady Linda’s death.

"The fact that Sir Tom is determined to go ahead with his performances this summer is a testament to the kind of person he is - a truly dedicated and unequalled performer.

"We’re sure that his fans will be as delighted as we are and will be out in force on the night to get behind him and show their support.”

Together with Sir Tom’s performance on July 28, Wet Wet Wet will perform on Friday, July 29, while the Hallé perform on Saturday, July 30.
