ORGANISERS are putting the finishing touches to plans for Knutsford Heritage Centre to mark the 100th anniversary of World War One.

Exhibitions and events commemorating the impact of The Great War will take place at the site on King Street over the next five months.

Remembrance and Reflections: Knutsford in World War One will include displays of original artefacts and memorabilia donated by the town’s residents, highlighting the impact on soldiers as well as family and friends.

Two lunchtime talks will be held next month, supported by Cheshire East Council and Knutsford Town Council.

Tony Davis will be discussing “the lads who never came home” on Saturday, November 1 and Charlotte Peters Rock will talk about all aspects of The Great War on Saturday, November 8.

Both events start at midday and tickets are priced at £8, which includes a light lunch.

Other talks and workshops will include the women’s war effort and knitting for Britain as well as local history and war poetry and songs.

More information about all the events, which will run between October 21 and March 14, 2015, is available by ringing 01565 650506 or by visiting www.knutsfordheritage.co.uk

The heritage centre is open Tuesday to Saturday between 11am and 4pm and admission to the exhibition is free.
