THE restaurant at the Mere Golf Resort and Spa has secured a second AA rosette.

The AA has awarded the resort an overall rating of 84 per cent – the highest mark possible for a 4 star venue.

At the same time, its flagship Browns restaurant has secured an additional rosette, giving it a coveted 2 star rating.

The Cheshire based resort, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, told the Guardian it was delighted with comments such as ‘service levels exceeded expectations’, ‘staff provided attentive, well-placed service throughout the stay and balanced this with a genuinely friendly approach’ and ‘the spa experience was exceptional’.

Gary Corbett, chairman at The Mere Golf Resort and Spa, said: “From the outset of our resort redevelopment in 2012, we aspired to be recognised by guests and partners alike at the top end of the 4-star market.

“To receive this acknowledgement by the AA is an incredibly proud moment for myself and the entire team here at The Mere.

“It’s been a sustained effort by every individual to ensure we succeeded in securing this improved rating and we’re delighted with the results.

“This will play an important role in growing our premium ranking within the North West and continue to secure our place us on the map at a national level.”

Since its re-launch in March 2012, The Mere has secured five awards including Cheshire & Lancashire Life’s Hotel of the Year, the ‘Good Spa Guide’s 5 Bubbles Award’ for customer service and TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellence.
