WORKMEN are investigating after a two metre hole appeared in a road in Knutsford this morning, Monday.
Cheshire East Highways staff and United Utilities are at the scene at Manor Park North, near the junction of Manor Crescent, after the hole appeared this morning.
As a result the road has been closed and residents are being urged to avoid the area.
It has now been revealed that Cheshire Police were in attendance at 2pm on Sunday after reports of a problem with the road.
Highways staff then came out and put barriers around the affected area.
Knutsford Town Council (@KnutsfordTown) tweeted: "Manor Park North has been closed urgently this morning due to a potential road collapse.
"The closure is likely to be in place for most of this week whilst investigation and repairs take place. Diversion signs are in place."
Ann Horne (@annhorne93) added: "Road closed on Manor Park North due to big pot hole near the scout hut, full road closure in place."
Ann later tweeted: "A company called saphire cctv have turned up and our now checking the hole on manor park north."
