FOUR Amber Lounge employees are hoping for a ‘knockout’ as they swap the bar for the ring in Manchester next month.

Stefan Harris, Chris Langhorn, Drew Jones and Mark Hampshire will be pulling on the gloves for North West White Collar Boxing ‘When Clubland Collides’ at the Mecure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel on June 21.

All contenders are from the bar and club industry in the north west and Amber Lounge is the only establishment putting forward four fighters.

As well as having a strong presence in the ring, Amber Lounge is also showing its commitment behind the scenes. The event’s organisers have teamed up with Amber Lounge’s Business Relations Manager, Laura Christian, who raises money for Alder Hey Children’s Charity through her business Cheshire Events Management, and the money raised through the boxing match will go to the cause.

Laura said: “We are a family orientated business and all the staff are very much a unit – we all wanted to get involved.”

The boxing amateurs are currently being trained by Ricky Hatton’s brother, Matthew, and are yet to meet their competitors face-to-face.

Stefan, 21, said: “On the night it’s going to be hard with the whole crowd around you but I just have to concentrate.”

Although nerves are starting to kick in, the men remain focused on their main objective – raising money for charity.

“We need everybody’s support, whether it is through donations or just watching the event,” said Chris, 36. Cheshire Events Management will be holding a charity auction on fight night and will also be fundraising in Amber Lounge throughout the Bank Holiday weekend.
