BUDDING young scientists can prepare to be amazed at Tatton Park this half term.

The Tatton team have a host of science, technology and engineering-themed activities lined up as part of Cheshire’s Amazed by Science Festival 2014.

Until June 1, visitors can explore how science plays a part in the day to day running of the estate and take part in trails, demonstrations, hands-on activities and demonstrations, and talks across the park.

At the farm, visitors can meet the chicks and ducklings today, Wednesday, and the heavy horses on Friday May 30. On Saturday, there will be steam engine demonstrations at the farm, and visitors will be introduced to ‘Baa-ology’ when they meet the sheep on Sunday June 1.

In the mansion, there will be Tatton Rocks Geology Trails from May 24 to June 1 and drop-in daily talks on domestic technology at Tatton.

Busy Bee Garden Trails will take place in the estate’s gardens all week and there will also be a chance to get green-fingered with Tatton’s gardeners, learning about pottery, wormery, photosynthesis, pollination and more.

Until June 1, visitors can also enjoy lunchtime strolls through Dairy Wood Way with the rangers, discovering more about the woodland’s habitat and get a taste of woodland surveying.

On May 27 and 28, visitors can join the Rangers Safari to hunt for mini-beasts in the park’s ponds and woodlands and take a trailer ride to get a close look at Tatton’s deer.
