AFTER 25 years of mixing with the stars, a cattle breeder has gone back to her roots and will be showcasing at the country show that changed her life.

Pam Weaver, from Gloucester, is returning to this year’s Cheshire Show, a quarter of a century after she was catapulted into the world of showbiz following her last appearance there.

On that occasion, she was approached by members of the production crew who were looking for horned cattle to appear in the ‘Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves’ blockbuster. They asked Pam, who was at the show with her Dexter’s Cattle, if her animals could be used in the film.

Pam agreed – and her career as an animal supplier to the stars began. Over the past 20 years Pam’s cattle, pigs, chickens and goats have gone on to appear in movies with Richard Gere, Keira Knightley, and Sir Sean Connery, as well as well-know BBC productions including ‘Tess of the d’Urbervilles’ and ‘Lark Rise to Candleford’.

“The last time I was at the Cheshire Show my life changed in ways I couldn’t imagine,” said Pam.

“But this time I’m hoping just to show my Dexter’s Cattle, as I have given up the film work. It took over my life for more than 20 years and now I want to get back to what I’m know for, which is showing cattle, and I can’t wait to go back to the Cheshire Show as it’s one of my favourites.”

Executive director of the Cheshire County Show Nigel Evans said it is always great to welcome people back to the show, even after such a long break.

“I’m sure Pam and her Dexter’s Cattle will enjoy the experience, and I hope they won’t it so long before they come and see us again,” he added.

This year’s Cheshire Show will take place on June 17 and 18 at the Tabley Showground. To purchase tickets or for information about the show visit cheshirecountyshow.org.uk.
