THE name of Knutsford’s monthly market has been unveiled – Makers Market Knutsford.

Replacing the recently dissolved Artisan Market, the newly-branded market will make its Knutsford debut on Sunday, April 6.

The name isn’t the only thing that’s new. Niche Ventures Ltd, the company behind the market, have gone for a vintage-inspired new look as well.

Niche Ventures’ owner Vicky Jackson, a former partner of the Artisan Market Company, said: “We wanted it to have a vintage feel as the event is about the celebration of Knutsford’s shopping and community experience, and calls back to a time prior to internet shopping and out-of-town shopping, when our high streets were king.

“We wanted the branding to evoke a feeling of quality of what we had to offer on the day of the markets.”

Although the market has a new look, Vicky promised it would feature all the firm favourites from the Artisan Market - alongside some new, exciting twists.

“Our aims with the monthly event is to complement the specialists already on Knutsford’s high street and bring extra specialists so that Knutsford becomes an all encompassing, inspirational shopping experience for the community,” she added.

Vicky is keen place greater emphasis on town community groups and businesses. This Sunday, Knutsford Retailers Bunny Hop organisers will be out in force telling shoppers about the upcoming event and Royal May Day organisers will be selling copies of their souvenir programme.

Volunteer group Knutsford Hosts will be taking up the community stall; chef Dave Mooney will be doing a live cooking demo; and Bridget of Knutsford Bloom and Sarah of the Cheese Yard will be put under the spotlight.

Music will be provided by Loose Change Buskers and Get Back and face painters, balloon modellers, artists and a bouncy castle will provide entertainment for the younger market visitors.

The Makers Market will take place on Princess Street on April 6 from 11am-4pm.
