THE incredible creativity and imagination of pupils at Goostrey School was underlined when they took up headteacher Lyndsey Atkins’ writing challenge.

All the junior school children were invited to produce a piece of writing of no more than 200 words in any genre that had to finish with the words ‘and then the noise stopped’.

There were nearly 50 entries from across the four classes which were judged by one of the governors Mark Bayley.

Miss Atkins said: “I knew we had a lot of high quality and imaginative writers in the school and so I wanted to give them the opportunity to showcase their skills and show how talented they are.

“I was really pleased by both the number and quality of the entries. The four prize winners, two boys and two girls, have now chosen their prizes which are as equally imaginative as their writing.

“The pupils from Year 4 have asked for a uniform free day for the class with a film and popcorn!

“The older children have asked for a sports afternoon, for the whole class and one winner has asked for some origami paper.

“All entries have received a certificate and I will read their entries to the whole school in assembly.”
