Developer resubmits plans for homes on Saltersford Corner
A HOUSING developer has resubmitted its plans for 100 properties in Holmes Chapel after changing the access point to the site.
Russell Homes has amended plans for a proposed development at Saltersford Corner in Holmes Chapel.
The proposal is for a mixture of 100 two, three and four bedroom properties incorporating both large family homes and around 30 per cent affordable, providing a mixture of choice for buyers.
The plans have been updated following consultation with Cheshire East Council highways officers, and in response to points raised by members of the local community about access from the development on to the main road.
Bill Armstrong-Mortlock, a 16-year-old sixth form student at Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School, started a campaign in January against the proposal.
Bill, along with his mum Katherine, headed to Cheshire East Council’s headquarters in Sandbach in February to hand a 472-strong petition over to Clr Michael Jones, leader, and Dane Valley ward Clr Andrew Kolker.
The new proposal for the site now sees access to the development moved to opposite the Manor Lane junction, and includes a new roundabout and pedestrian crossing facility.
Russell Homes told the Guardian that this would serve to ‘slow down traffic on the bend’ and would also ‘help to address the difficulties faced by queuing traffic in Manor Lane when trying to turn onto the A535 Macclesfield Road’.
Daniel Kershaw, director for Russell Homes, said: “The changes to the road layout have been made to better reflect the desire of the local highways department, and address concerns raised by the local community.
“We now await the planners’ consideration and council’s decision.”
According to Cheshire East Council’s planning database, the decision on the application is planned to be made by the Strategic Planning Board on April 30.
