A GOOSTREY woman proved top dog after scooping a coveted Crufts prize for the tenth time.

Rosemary Griffiths and her four-year-old canine companion Chairman walked away with a prestigious Best in Breed award after wowing judges at the NEC in Birmingham earlier this month.

The duo, from Bank View, fought off competition from a host of other Foxhounds to claim the prize.

“Chairman is an absolute babe at home, he’s an ex-pack hound and I’ve had him since September, which makes it all the more remarkable that he’s here showing so well,” Rosemary said.

The dog-lover has been a long-standing competitor in the world-famous show and her hounds have come top of the class on more than occasion.

In 2010, she dedicated her Best of Breed award, which she won with the help of foxhound Dreamy, to her late mother who died on the eve of the competition.

“I started showing hounds in 2000 and Crufts is just the ultimate spectacle, there’s no other show like it. To win it ten times is amazing,” she said.

“Chairman is an absolute babe at home, he’s an ex-pack hound and I’ve had him since September, which makes it all the more remarkable that he’s here showing so well.

“I’m really proud of him and we both trained very hard, we’ve done ten miles a day on the bike since September.”

More than 21,500 dogs descended on the Birmingham exhibition centre for this year’s Crufts, the world’s biggest dog show.

The annual competition attracted dog lovers from all walks of life, with 45 overseas countries represented throughout the four-day show from March 6 to 9.
